[baloan] 		Fantastic approach over water and dunes. Watch out for the seagulls! Friendly service, tower closed from 12:00 to 14:30 local. A walk to the Harbour takes 10 min on foot. A shuttle ferry connects to the main island every 30 mins. The trip to the airfield is EUR 4,00. Helgoland is VAT exempt offering duty free liquors and cigarettes in shops all around the place. Expect to see customs officers when leaving the main island. A walk around the island is recommended (takes approx 1 hour) to see breeding seabirds (April to May) in the cliffs on the westside. Along the trail are posts informing about the history of the island, for example Werner Heisenberg conceiving the uncertainty principle and the British trying to destroy the island after World War II.
