[anthonyepl] 		Very nice approach but be careful, they have dozens of micro lights flying erratically in and around the circuit pattern. Be very careful on the ground as well because they land and take off from the taxiways, it’s so dangerous… they edge past the parked aircraft to take off.
Make sure you wear a yellow vest.
The runway and parkings are in quite a bad state so taxi and land carefully.
Otherwise the place is very nice, just a couple minutes away from the center of Riga. Download the app « Bolt » it’s like Uber and it’s super cheap: less than 5€ to the city center.
Arranged refueling with local Aeroclub, super cheap Avgas.

[hpblr] 		Really old but funny airport. Nice approach overflying the east of the city of Riga; important to study beforehand. Nice people. Taxi o the city less than 10€.
Did not have AVGAS when we were there. Check beforehand. It was difficult to find AVGAS in the region and finally got it privately at EVPA.

[utbean94] 		Funniest approach ever. It is however important to study the pocedures beforehand of course. The airport seems to be run by locals and everything worked very smooth for me. The details is taken care of in a small building and there is also a shipping container that is used as a toilet. Runway and taxiway asphalt needs some care. Spilve is close to city centre and it serves as an good alternative since Riga intl. has a new expensive charging policy and ridiculous safety policy and not even that big airport have AVGAS service anymore as I know. AVGAS is actually not officially sold in Spilve either and probably in no other place in entire Latvia. That is a scandal and a safety issue. The Spilve AVGAS is sold by a private person without receipt I think. I made up with myself and took off for Estonia and an extra fuel stop in Pärnu the next day. My overall impression of Spilve is that the simplicity in the handling is something good. Strongly recommend.
