	23.04.19	Henrik Knoblauch [henrik_k]	You need PPR for Albania and an airport slot for LATI. Both is a no brainer, but you need to send your Aircraft Documents to the corresponding authority. You will be handled like a charter flight. Check the AIP, all E-Mail Contacts are valid. PPR will be provided very quickly (within 24 hours). Any communication within the authorities was answered within a few hours (!!). But it seems that the number of documents is more important than the content ;-) So don´t be afraid if you cannot provide all of the required documents, just tell them and let them help you. After leaving the airport the best way to get to Tirana is the Airport Shuttle Bus. It will leave outside the terminal from an orange Bus Stop and is about 300 LEKE (2.50€). You pay in the bus. You need LEKE, no Euros in the bus. Money exchange is also in the terminal. The bus will depart to Tirana every full hour (no time table anywhere) and the ride will be about 30 minutes. Taxi will be about 35-40€. But it won´t be faster, because traffic is a big problem in Tirana. Don´t just think about renting a car from your first day. Information for transportation will also be provided on the airport homepage. Be aware that internet roaming is extremely expensive. The best way to stay online is to buy a prepaid sim card in the terminal. There is a Vodaphone Shop on the way out which offers tourist packages for small money. I takes you less than 5 minutes and you have your sim card. Public WLAN hotspots are rare. AVGAS is available, but on request. If you request refuelling, a JetA1 truck will arrive at your aircraft. If you return to the airport, you need to ask for the "load master" guy. He is sitting in the office, where flight plans can be filed. You can try to contact him via the Information desk in the terminal, but i depends who is on duty over there. There are not used to handle private flights. But if you continue asking one by one from the airport staff, you will find somebody who is able to help you. Just to make it clear, they are all very friendly and helpful. But there seems to be no process how to handle private flights. Your "handling" guy will lead you to the security gate (expedited procedure) and will transport you to the AIS office. They work very quick. Calculation of the fees are made transparent to you. Cards are accepted. Our time lead from filing the flight plan to EOBT was 30 minutes. No problem. Is it an excellent airport for GA? Well, it is the only one. But fees are reasonable, AVGAS is available, everybody cares for you and handling is worth it´s money. Plan with 1 hour after arriving at the airport and you should be fine. My grade: Excellent airport for General Aviation! Category: City access
